ACEREZ operates within a regulated electricity market and is subject to a range of regulatory frameworks and oversight bodies. These include the National Electricity Rules (NER) and the National Electricity Market (NEM), as well as regulatory and market bodies such as the Australian Energy Regulator (AER), the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), and the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART).

Ring-fencing
Ring-fencing requirements are designed to prevent discrimination and cross-subsidisation between regulated transmission services and contestable electricity services.
